Before making custom T-shirts, brands should confirm fabric composition, fabric weight, GSM, knit structure, shrinkage, hand feel, stretch, color standard, wash effect, and printing compatibility.
For custom T-shirts, fabric choice affects the final fit, drape, durability, print result, and perceived quality. A lightweight cotton jersey T-shirt will not feel the same as a heavyweight streetwear T-shirt or a washed vintage T-shirt.
Brands should also decide whether they need regular fit, oversized fit, boxy fit, cropped fit, or longline fit. The same fabric may perform differently depending on the pattern and garment measurements.
If the T-shirt uses screen printing, puff print, embroidery, discharge print, digital print, or washing, the fabric should be tested during sampling. Some techniques require a smoother surface, stronger fabric body, or controlled shrinkage.
A complete sample request should include size chart, fabric direction, artwork file, logo placement, color reference, neck rib requirement, label details, and packaging instruction.
